Some words to the background of this beautiful picture book “BHUTAN”:
Since 1987, German diplomat and photographer Harald N. Nestroy has visited 13 times the little-known Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. He was allowed to travel in all regions of the country, also
in areas normally not open to tourists. Added up for many months, he has walked also the remotest trekking routes in the highest mountain regions of Bhutan. The photographic results are fascinating,
sometimes dreamlike pictures of the grandiose landscapes of Bhutan with her Himalayan ice peaks, of the monastery-castles (dzongs), monasteries, temples, villages and of the people of Bhutan
of all walks of life.
Harald N. Nestroy is Executive Chairman of “Pro Bhutan” through which he has carried out a number of humanitarian projects for the benefit of the people of Bhutan.
