Elaboration and execution of the Master Plan for the
rehabilitation of the National Institute for the Disabled (blind children) in Khaling (NID)
and the turn key construction of the hostel for 30 blind girls based on our agreement signed by Harald Nestroy in April 2002. The construction of the Girls’ Hostel was mostly financed by the German NGO “Star hours – We help children”, the humanitarian association of the Bavarian Television, Munich, and amounted to 130.000 EURO. The other buildings “Pro Bhutan” built in Khaling for the blind children were financed by the Royal Government of Bhutan, the Bhutanese “Youth Development Fund”,
Save the Children (USA), and UNICEF.

Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck has inaugurated the new NID
facilities for the Blind Children on 19 th November 2004.
